Chapter 30: Captured

Summary: Sam finds herself a prisoner.

Sam POV

I slowly wake up and try to remember what happened. I have a bit of a headache, but not as if someone knocked me on the head. I'm feeling nauseous too, and my head is strangely foggy.

Then I remember the weirdly smelling smoke in the room the servant took me to. She claimed it was incense, but now I suspect it was some kind of sleep gas. Where did it come from? The only ones on this planet that would have the knowledge to make that would be Ria... and the priestesses, probably!

I realize that I must have walked directly into a trap, and that the group of priestesses that want Hapi back as their 'god' must be behind it!

This is confirmed a few moments later when their leader, Jio'a, steps into the room. I quickly sit up, and my head feels like it is swimming. I force myself to focus on her and not show any weakness. I am not going to give her that satisfaction!

"Ah, I see you have awoken."

"Why did you drug me? Where am I? Release me, immediately!" I demand.

Jio'a snorts. "Heretic scum! How dare you demand anything of a servant of the true god Hapi!"

I shake my head at her. "Hapi is dead! You're worshipping a dead god!"

"Blasphemy! Only unbelievers doubt in Hapi's continued existence! He is a god, and cannot be killed! He merely made it look that way in order to test us and find his true believers!" Jio'a exclaims.

"Yeah, you just go on believing that..."

"You are our prisoner, and will remain so until Jolki informs us what we should do about you! Do not attempt to flee - that is impossible."

"My friends will come and free me - and then you are going to regret this!" I tell her.

She laughs. "No one knows of this place except for the true believers! It was secret to his most devout followers before, and now it is used only by those waiting for his return!"

She turns and leaves, closing the door after her. I hear some sort of lock activating.

I look around, and try to determine where I am. I am starting to feel a little better, so I get up and start to examine the room thoroughly.

The first, most obvious thing is that there are no windows. The room is about fifteen feet times fifteen feet, with a bed - or more correctly a bench with some skins on, a table, and a chair. No other furniture. There is a bucket in the corner, but whether there is water in it for me to drink, or if it is meant for other business, I don't know, and doesn't feel like checking right now. There is a single door, and it is made of massive wood, and enforced with metal. I will never get out that way, even if Jolinar was awake.

Jolinar! I sit down on the bed and feel for her, and finally find her. She doesn't appear worse, so that is good, at least.

I feel pretty tired, and with nothing else to do, I lie down and try to sleep.

Martouf POV

I look up as Ria comes into the room, looking concerned and bewildered.

"Ria?" I ask.

"Hello, Martouf. Have you seen Samantha?"

I feel my heart beat faster as I get worried. "No, not since breakfast. You were going to examine her and see if there was something wrong with Jolinar, correct?"

Ria nods. "Yes. I finished my examinations and needed to analyse some tests I had taken from here. I asked her to wait, but when I came to talk to her she was gone. I have looked everywhere I think she could have gone, and have not found her."

I jump up. "I will help you to search. Perhaps... perhaps she just went to lie down? She has mentioned feeling fatigued." I frown. "What did you learn from your examinations? Is there something wrong with Jolinar... or Samantha?"

Ria sighs. "I suppose I can tell you, since it concerns you. No, there is nothing wrong with Jolinar, or Samantha. However... Samantha is pregnant."

I stare at Ria, not sure I heard her correct. "What? But... how can she be? I mean, yes..." I blush. "We have been... um... fairly active, but Samantha is a host, and the symbiote in the female usually..." I shut up as I realize my error. "But Jolinar is dormant, and only barely connected to Samantha. She does not control her bodily functions nearly as much as normally."

"No, she does not, and we should all have realized."

Lantash asks for control, and I give it to him. "I am the one who is to blame. I could have controlled our fertility, but it did not even cross my mind, as the female Tok'ra is usually the one to do so."

"Yes."

"I need to talk to Samantha. She does not know?"

"No, she does not."

Lantash nods. "That is a concern for later. Now we must find Samantha. I hope nothing has happened to her. Could those conspiring priestesses have taken her?"

I can feel Lantash become terrified at the thought, and I feel like him.

"I hope not!"

We all leave to search for Samantha, and to ask our friends to help search.

Lantash and my thoughts also goes to the new information we have just gotten. Samantha is pregnant! The thought makes both me and Lantash feel elated... and afraid... and very worried. The child will be harcesis, and a danger to the Tok'ra, should the Goa'uld get their hands on it. Not only that, but the child will grow up with the knowledge, memories, of countless atrocities. Can we really do this to a child?

Jio's office, in the secret lair of the conspirators.

"What is it, Siola?" Jio'a asks.

"Jolki is here to speak with you, eminence."

Jio'a nods, pleased Siola remembered the new honorific they have decided on, after making the decision to make Jio'a the high priestess of the true believers. "Send him in."

Jolki enters, nodding at Jio'a. "Greetings, high priestess Jio'a. I am told you have apprehended one of the unbelievers?"

"Yes, the young female with the blond hair." Jio'a tells him.

"Very good. She is unharmed?"

"She is."

Jolki nods. "Good. Make sure she remains that way. Feed her, and whatever. I will contact Hapi, and hear what he wishes to do with her. He will want her in excellent condition for his interrogations."

"Of course." Jio'a says. "We shall make sure of it."

Jolki activates his long range communication device, sends the signal, and waits for a little while. Soon the face of a beautiful, but evil woman appears on the orb.

"My Lord Naunet!" Jolki respectfully bows his head to her. "I report the capture of one of the foreigners that cooperate with the heretic Ria. What do you wish me to do with her?"

"I wish to speak with her. She is host to a Tok'ra symbiote, is she not?"

"That is what they say, my Lord, but I have seen no proof of it myself."

Naunet nods. "I will interrogate her myself." She sighs. "Due to various circumstances, it will not be possible to send a ship for her right now. You will see to it she is fed and kept alive until such time as she can be sent to me."

"Yes, my Lord, I have already ordered that taken care of."

"Good. It may be several months, but I trust she is safe and will not be found?"

"She will not, I have been assured that."

Naunet nods and turns off the connection, and Jolki puts the device in his pocket, smiling evilly. He suspects he will get a very great reward from his Lord for this!
