Fanfic, Sam's Diary, Sam/Martouf/Lantash, R, 12/13
~What now?~
"We sit down and read those boring reports?~ Lantash suggests.
~I had hoped we could get to talk some more to Samantha immediately - and give her the gifts! It's her birthday today! Jacob told us!"
~I had hoped the same, obviously.~
I pick up the report at the top and read the title. 'Unexplored ruins of possible Ancient origin on P2X-212'. ~That's more Anise's area of interest, I think.~ I put it down beside the pile, not reading anything further in it. I pick up the next one.
~That one does not seem much more interesting. 'Tracks of Jaffa on P3X-783. Possible evidence of Goa'uld activity'. Which planet is that?~
~No idea.~ I glance over the first page. ~From the coordinates, I would say it's somewhere close to the Niriana system.~
~Then it would make sense there is Goa'uld activity! That whole area belongs to Cronus!~
~Yes...perhaps these reports will be more meaningful when the information in them have been cross-referenced with the reports Malek is currently preparing back in the tunnels, for sharing with the Tau'ri. There are a lot of information we have about the Goa'uld that the Tau'ri do not. We really need to share that, or they could be walking into traps.~
~Agreed - and the other way around as well. While I can see the need to keep some things secret - even for the Tok'ra not directly involved in those missions - there are many things which it would make sense that we share with each other. It would help both sides, and we are allies! Despite what people like Jack O'Neill or Delek thinks!~
~Right...~ I pick up the next report. ~This sounds marginally interesting...it would seem they have found signs of someone visiting... Toirek VI, I think it is. That was abandoned several centuries ago. If the Goa'uld are coming back, it could be signs of danger - not only for the population there, but it could signify that someone has decided to take over the remaining free planets that once belonged to the Goa'uld Hermes.~
~True, that is interesting. An operative needs to be sent there.~
I take the next report, and reads the title, then starts flipping through it.
~I wonder what Samantha is doing with the nehk'teba?~
~What is anyone doing with a nehk'teba?~
~Normally I would agree - and hope it means she is not in a relationship with anyone, even if they are used as much for shared pleasure, as they are alone. However, I was under the impression the Tau'ri would not be so open about this part of their life. It also seems a strange place to keep the nehk'taba...~
I look over at it, where it is lying on what looks like some sort of scientific research device, perhaps for studying things in greater detail. ~I agree. That is strange.~
~Do you think...that she could be unaware of its purpose?~
~You mean you think she is studying it? I doubt she could be unaware. Maybe she hopes to copy it. The Tau'ri probably have inferior versions.~
~I agree. That makes more sense. I mean, how could anyone be unaware?~
I pick up the nehk'taba, and allow it to turn on, then switch between a few settings. ~It seems to function correctly...though I suppose Samantha may not have enough experience using Goa'uld technology to have figured out how to activate it.~
~Then we can explain it to her together with the other technology. I would be most pleased to demonstrate its use for her!~
~Lantash! I don't think that would be a good idea!~ I put the report aside, and notice there is only one more. ~This one looks different.~
~Agreed - but maybe not on the nehk'taba...~ Lantash 'grins'. ~The cover for the report is most pleasing. The colouration resembles tunnel crystals.~
~It does.~ I open it and start to read. ~Oh... is this Samantha's personal log? Very interesting!~
~Very. It would seem to detail her observations and feelings about the missions they have gone to, starting, perhaps, a year... or more, before we met her first... is there anything about her experiences with Jolinar?~
I glance through the first few pages. I feel anger at some of the fools that Samantha is working with, her on the base, and before.
~No...there is no entry for the time after her brief blending with Jolinar.~
~No...too bad. It would seem there are no entries at all for almost a year, then. But then there is one from when she had just returned after meeting us!~
~Yes, I see that! Be quiet so we can read it!~
We read for a long time. That entry, and those following it.
~It would seem you had some effect on her, Martouf!~ Lantash observes, sounding surprised.
~Yes...I did not know she felt like this. It is very reassuring. Wonderful! We need to talk to her, Lantash!~
~Yes...~
~What is it? We feel like she does!~ I look at the next entry, one detailing a dream she had about us. ~She wants us... dreams about, and even fantasizes of us when awake. She desires us! Loves us! Both of us! This is a dream come through.~
~Given how private the Tau'ri are, I just do not think we were meant to read this...~
~Why not? It is included with the reports! Surely she would not allow others to read it, but not us? Besides, it is in the form of a log.~
~It may have been an error that she left it out.~
I think it over. It was located at the bottom of the pile of reports. ~You are correct. It may be an error. We should not read more of it...indeed, we should pretend we have not seen it.~
~I cannot do that - and since we have already read so much, we should read the rest. At least, then, we would know how to behave?~
~All right...~ I slowly agree, feeling guilty. ~Let us read the rest.~
