Chapter 31: Danger and Worry

Summary: Martouf/Lantash and Sam's friends worry about her.

Martouf POV

We have searched the palace for hours, and not been able to find Samantha. Lantash and I are very worried and afraid something bad has happened to our beloved mates.

Jacob and O'Neill enter the room and they are dragging a servant between them. She looks angry, but also scared.

"One of the servants had seen Sam leave with this person..." Jacob glares at her, and she shrinks under his gaze.

"We thought it would be a good idea to talk to her, and when she denied seeing Carter, we got suspicious..." O'Neill says.

My eyes flare as Lantash take control, both sad and furious at the same time.

"What have you done to my mates? Tell me!"

The servant covers in fear, and suddenly start crying. She tears free from Jacob and O'Neill, and throws herself at Lantash's feet. "Forgive me, my Lord! I did not know you were a god. I would never have done something to anger a divine being. Please, I..."

"Stop with the whimpering and excuses! Tell me where Samantha and Jolinar are! Now!" Lantash demands, his eyes flashing again from the anger.

"I...I...this humble person is called Silka, and I was misled by the high priestess Jio'a. She promised me the god Hapi would reward me and my family if I helped, and that he would curse us if I did not! What should I do?" She cried openly.

"Where! Is! Samantha!" Lantash shouts, grabbing hold of her and pulling her to her feet.

"I do not know, my Lord! Honestly! I would never lie to you. Never! Jio'a and some of her priestesses took her! They drugged her with some gas, and took her." She shivers. "I do not think they will harm her! Hapi wants to talk to her."

"Hapi is dead! He has been dead for more than a century!" Lantash exclaims. He suddenly lets go of the servant and she collapses. "We must find her! Where would the priestesses go?"

"We will find her." Jacob promises, putting a hand on our shoulder.

I desperately hope that is true!

Sam POV

I have spent several days in this place now, close to a week, actually. No one will tell me anything! I am starting to worry Jio'a and the others are right, and no one but they knows of this place.

I have been feeling sick on and off these days. I really wonder what is wrong, and I am very worried there is something wrong with Jolinar. But what could it be? Is this sickness just because she isn't treating a common stomach bug as quickly as otherwise? But then why am I still sick? I shouldn't be - I mean I should have gotten better by myself by now!

In order to keep tab of how long I am here, I am making scratches in the wooden beam beside my bed. Six days. I am going stir-crazy! They won't even give me a book!

I really wish Jolinar was awake, so I would have her to talk to. I have examined every inch of this place, and there is no way to escape. At least they are feeding me well. That is something. Someone must be interested in me surviving - and I suspect it is not because they are kind. I wonder who wants to talk to me? Since Hapi is dead, it is probably some other Goa'uld who has convinced these people that he or she is their 'Hapi'.

Jio'a's office, in the secret lair of the conspirators.

"How long do we have to keep the heretic here? I dislike playing her servant!" Siola snorts.

"Jolki told us Hapi would send for her at the time of his choice. It is not our place to question the will of a god." Jio'a points out.

Siola sighs dramatically, but doesn't complain. "Yes, excellence."

Martouf POV

We have now searched for clues as to Samantha's whereabouts for several weeks, and all we have learned is that there is apparently a secret hiding place, and network of tunnels used by the priestesses who still worship Hapi. We have learned that from those - many - priestesses and priests who do not follow Hapi, and are loyal to Ria. Unfortunately, the knowledge of the location of any of the entrances is lost to their group. They are searching their old archives, though, so Lantash and I desperately hope they will find something.

Amid the worry that Samantha and Jolinar will end up in the clutches of a Goa'uld is the extra worry that they will learn of her child and somehow use it against the Tok'ra.

It has been a long time since Lantash and I slept well, and our dreams are all nightmares.

We just hope Samantha is at least being treated well by the priestesses. Ria assures me they would not have been able to get her off world yet, so that is something.
