Chapter 37: Happiness

Summary: They make it back to Ria's palace - just in time for Sam to give birth.

Martouf POV

We have made it through the corridors of the alkesh, shooting a few Jaffa on the way. The ship is not heavily armed, and no one seems to have succeeded in raising the alarm.

Ahead of us is the peltac, the place where Lord Naunet will almost certainly be. Where we stand, not far from the door to the peltac, we can sense several energy signatures from symbiotes. Of course, Lord Naunet can sense us as well, but she will almost certainly just assume it is some of her Jaffa.

"Ready?" Jack asks in a low voice.

Lantash nods. "Yes."

Jack opens the door and we charge inside, zat'nik'tels ready. Lord Naunet is at the controls, and there are three other Jaffa in there.

Jack fires at the nearest Jaffa, downing him. Lantash shoots Naunet, just as she raises her hand with her hand device. I see it glow, but she does not have time to get off a shot.

We jump back, and so does Jack. Blasts from staff weapons hits the wall and flies through the door, but we are not hit.

Lantash jumps out and rolls across the door opening, firing at the Jaffa on the way, before getting back up to standing position on the other side, in safety.

~Careful!~

~I believe I got the Jaffa on the right.~ Lantash merely observes, feeling pleased.

"How many left?" Jack whispers.

Lantash holds up one finger and makes a motion to the left. Jack nods, and jumps out in the door opening, firing at the remaining Jaffa, hitting him.

"All clear?" Lantash asks.

"Yes - why do you think I remain standing here?" Jack asks, raising an eyebrow.

"Good point, I suppose." Lantash answers, mirth in his voice.

We go into the room together, and while Jack checks on all the Jaffa, we hurry to Naunet, who is waking.

Jack fires at one of the Jaffa who is getting up. "Will enough time have passed that it doesn't kill him?"

"Probably not." We roughly remove the hand device from Naunet and grab her, forcing her to a standing position. "Get up, Goa'uld."

She snorts and glares at Lantash. "Tok'ra scum!"

Jack shoots the two other Jaffa again. "Too bad, but we can't risk them coming after us."

Lantash nods. "We also needs to check the entire ship for enemies, and then we should get Samantha back to Ria's palace."

"Ah, so you are the heretic who impregnated the female Tok'ra. Of course. You should be ashamed of yourself! Harcesis'es are disgusting creatures! Nothing human should hold such knowledge! It is only meant for the gods!" Naunet grins evilly. "Of course, it makes for an excellent opportunity to gain information to destroy you vermin and your Tau'ri allies completely."

"You will never get that chance! And you will not slander my mate or my children! Ever!" Lantash flashes his eyes angrily, and we lead Naunet out of the room, zat'nik'tel at the ready.

Sam POV

I feel relieved when we land safely in the yard before the palace Ria lives in - and that we have been living in.

Naunet, one of her Jaffa who were taken alive, as well as the priestess Siola, are all in the cells of the alkesh.

I gasp in pain as another hard contraction hits, and lean gratefully on Martouf as he supports me out of the alkesh.

Dad, my friends and team mates, are all waiting for us in the courtyard.

"Ria is ready to help you give birth, Sam." Dad tells me, and I nod gratefully.

"Hi dad, I missed you." I smile at him, and at the others. "And all of you!"

"We missed you too, Sam!"

They all follow me into the palace, and I finally feel safe and among loved ones again!

Martouf POV

Lantash and I are pacing the corridors, now and then going to Sam's room. How long can it take to give birth?

We have been back for hours, surely the children should have arrived by now?

Lantash tells me what he knows - what he remembers from being born - but that is not hugely helpful, as I suspect symbiote queen's have somewhat more control of the process. Also, symbiotes are smaller.

Why is our Jolinar not awake yet? I realize why - even if she had not been dormant for other reasons, she would be now, because of the children - but just wish she could be there for Samantha right now, to help her, and to take the pain.

"They are beautiful, my Samantha!" I tell her, looking at both of our children. It is a little boy, and a little girl, and they are just perfect!

I touch one of them carefully, and Samantha grins at me. "Try holding her!" She puts the girl in my arms, and the little one makes a sound - but not an unhappy one, I think.

"She is so tiny!" I hold her carefully, smiling at her. "Hello, there!"

Lantash wants control, and I gladly let him take it, of course. I want nothing more than to share this with him and Samantha!

"Greetings, little one!" Lantash grins at her, and she makes that happy-sounding sound again.

"She likes you!" Sam says, happily, taking the girl. "You must say hello to your son too!"

Lantash nods. "Of course." And he lifts up the boy. He seems to be agreeable to be lifted too.

Neither Lantash nor I can remember being this happy before! We both agree that this is worth any anger we might get from the Tok'ra Council!

Sam POV

Ria has used the healing device on me, so I am already fully healed, and can get up when I want to.

I feel pretty tired, though, so I think I will take a nap first. I have nursed the children, and talked to my dad and my team mates.

Martouf and Lantash are sitting beside me, looking at me and at the children now and then. They seem not to want to leave us, even though I am sure we are completely safe here. Even Rohk has admitted the children are cute, and no Tok'ra would harm them, harcesis or not, when they are born.

Of course, I like having Martouf and Lantash here with me, so I don't complain! I have missed them so much!

"What can you tell us?" Martouf asks, clearly somewhat nervous.

I share his feelings! What have Ria found about Jolinar? And our children? She has made thorough scans of Jolinar and of our two sweet children.

"First, the children. I have examined their code of life, and they do indeed have the genetic memory of both Lantash and Jolinar. The fact that Jolinar was dormant at their time of conception, and that she and Samantha had only recently blended, did not stop the transfer and exchange of code of life."

Martouf nods, and so do I. I suppose we might have hoped they hadn't gotten the genetic memory of both, but it was something we had expected.

"So they're harcesis." I say.

"Yes. Most of their genetic memory should not become accessible until they are young teens, so there will be time to prepare them for the effect."

I nod.

"The Tok'ra Council will not be happy, but the fact is, that the information and knowledge the children hold, will not be current when it becomes accessible." Martouf points out.

"Very true." Ria smiles encouragingly at him. "As a Tok'ra queen, I also suspect the Council will listen to me, and I will argue in your favour. I do not believe you will have problems."

Martouf bows his head and gives Lantash control.

"Thank you."

He looks as relieved as I feel!

"What I can further tell you is that the children does not only have genetic memory from Jolinar and Lantash. They are the result of the code of life of all four of you. There are a large number of smaller and larger... 'oddities', I suppose you would call them, were the children fully human. It will not harm them, health-wise, and will in fact make them healthier, stronger, and live longer - but I suspect it would be better not to let an advanced health care system like that of the Tau'ri, examine them. If I understand their level of technology correctly, they will be able to detect the changes, and would...wonder." Ria says.

"Understood. Well, I'm probably not allowed to use normal hospitals on Earth anyway, with Jolinar in me - nor do I expect to need them. I hope the Tok'ra healers and the doctors at the SGC will be enough for anything my children will need." I say.

"There is also me. I am a fairly experienced healer, and I will happily help with anything." Ria tells me, smiling.

"Thank you." I tell her.

"Then we get to my examinations of Jolinar. I have found that she has healed exceptionally well, even under these circumstances, and I find her almost completely healed. I expect her to wake up within the next week, most likely."

"That is wonderful news!" I say, deeply relieved.

"It is indeed!" Lantash smiles happily. "She has been greatly missed."

It is almost five days later, when we have finished packing everything that we are going to bring. Ria will be coming with us, going to the Tok'ra, of course. We will be using the alkesh to get back.

Naunet is still imprisoned, as is a few of the priestesses, which have all been captured. They will be interrogated and judged by the Tok'ra - and Naunet will certainly be extracted and killed.

We are sitting in the dining room, eating one more meal before leaving for the Tok'ra, when I feel the presence within me getting stronger.

~Jolinar?~ I ask.

~Yes?~ She sounds groggy, and is quiet for a moment. I have the feeling of someone going through my memories. ~Samantha... I am starting to remember... we crashed? Our mates?~ She looks in my memories some more. ~Are all right. We have been abducted? No... yes... we are free again. We were imprisoned for so long! Samantha! We have given birth? We have two children, with Martouf and Lantash?~

Jolinar sounds so shocked and incredulous by it all, that I almost laugh. ~Yes, lots of things have happened! I think we should talk to the others. They are staring at us - and I suspect they know you are awake.~

~Yes... wait... A TOK'RA QUEEN! YOU HAVE FOUND EGERIA'S DAUGHTER!~

~Yes... and please don't scream!~ I laugh happily. "Jolinar is awake!"

Martouf/Lantash have us in their arms immediately. "Jolinar?" Martouf asks.

I give Jolinar control.

"Yes, beloved Martouf. I am awake again." She hugs him close and they kiss. "I must say a lot has happened, for the time I have been unconscious! A Tok'ra Queen!" She smiles at Ria and bows her head. "It is wonderful. I am very pleased to meet you."

"Hello, Jolinar. I know of you from my mother, Egeria. She considered you a great friend. I am honoured to finally make your acquaintance!"

"I understand we have children?" Jolinar looks at Martouf again, and his eyes flashes as Lantash take control. He kiss her.

"Yes, beloved, and they are beautiful!"

"The Council?"

"Will not bother us. Ria will talk to them - and I believe so will Selmak."

Jolinar smiles. "Good." She hugs him close. "It would seem you have taken care of everything while I...'rested'."

"Perhaps, but it is so very good to have you back with us, Jolinar. We have missed you terribly. More than you can ever imagine." Lantash says, holding her close.

I smile to myself. All is finally completely well in my world. I have Martouf and Lantash, my - our - wonderful mates. I have Jolinar, the best symbiote I could want, and I have my two wonderful children, with Martouf and Lantash - and Jolinar. And my dad and my friends are here with me as well.

Yes, all is well in my world! And the Tok'ra even got a queen!

The end (for now, at least).
